During this second week, I am working on time management, spreadsheet data, and oral/ written communication skills. So, while learning how to manage time and making it convenient for myself I’m noticing the effects of poor time management skills along with spontaneous decision making. The learning process is rough in a way, however the mindset heading into next week is expected to be difficult. This will improve my effort in maintaining and utilize these skills making time management a key trait within my skill set. Moving forward during the week I am continuing data research and plan to visit the Wye Research and Education Center for insights on recently discovered data. This trip will be essential by providing accurate information contributing towards a successful research project. I will have the opportunity to share thoughts and ideas with Dr. Fiorellino this week during the Luncheon at the Wye. This will allow for collaboration with other interns and mentors. Then a tour of the Research Center will follow up the social interaction with the interns and mentors. Therefore, I will get a chance to get a view of the field I will be working in. However, before I attend this social interaction with rising interns and inspiring mentors I will need to show improvement within my communication skills verbally. So, to enhance this skill I am focusing on body language, speaking with confidence, and being authentic throughout meetings and public events. With a quick transition from what I have worked on so far to thinking back on past experiences and prior knowledge; I have not been through enough past experiences nor do I have a large amount of prior knowledge to determine what will help me become successful in this internship. However, by not having enough past experiences and little to no prior knowledge; the goal I have set for myself is to figure out what can help towards success during this internship. In motion towards the newly developed agricultural technologies I am excited to explore and learn more about. Self - controlled machinery is the new learning topic in relation to the new agricultural technologies being developed. I am curious to see how effective this adjustment will become and how will it increase the rate of crop production.
